Gracie teenager

Do you have a magical/Pagan name? I had one for all of five minutes, back when I first started dabbling in magic. It didn't feel right, though. It felt like I was playing pretend, which of course made me feel silly.
What does it mean? It means that I am a practical soul. Or that I have no imagination.
How did you find Paganism? Like [personal profile] ariestess, I was reading mythology stories at around 8 or so. I was (sporadically) raised Catholic and when I left the church, I went looking for something that made more sense to me. Paganism was it.
How long have you been practicing? About 10 years, give or take a little bit.
Solitary or group practitioner? Solitary. I've never played well with others.
What is your path? Pagan. "Eclectic", if you want to get technical, but really. I'm just your regular run of the mill heathen.
Are you out of the broom closet? Yep. About as much as I am out as a lesbian - which is to say I'll answer honestly to anyone who asks, but otherwise it's not really anyone else's business.

Who is your patron God? I answer to Hermes. He's my Guy. :D
Who is your patron Goddess? It's been Athena since I was about 8, but Diana also holds my heart and allegiance.
What Gods do you worship? Worship is such a STRONG term... I'm happy to show my respect to whichever deities come into my life; but I'm the most casual supplicant you'll ever meet.
Do you fear darkly aspected Gods/Goddess, or rather respect them? I respect them, but I won't lie and say that there's not a good healthy dose of fear, too. I think that's just smart. I mean, my Lady has Her moments. Hell, they BOTH do! I sure as hell wouldn't want to be on either one's shit list, yannow?
Do you worship the Christian God? No. I don't even technically/officially worship my own Gods, I will not worship someone else's - regardless of which pantheon or religion they're coming from.
Do you ever worship animals? I have a sense of respect and awe and reverence for them, if that counts.
Or plants? Same.

Do you regularly commune with nature? Not as much as I should. I don't know why I don't, because I always feel so much better afterwards.
Ever walked barefoot in the woods? Nope, not even as a kid.
Taken a camping trip just to talk to nature? LMAO, I'm a pretty pretty princess! My idea of roughing it is Motel 6.
Describe the moment you felt closest to Mother Earth? Which time? There are quite a few times over the course of my life where I've felt connected and close and completely overwhelmed in all the best ways.
Do you have a familiar? No.
Have you ever called upon the powers of an animal in ritual? Rituals are so formal! I do ask certain animals to grace me with their aspects over the course of my life.
Or a plant? Same as above.
Do you hug trees? Whenever I get the chance and the tree's permission. Some of them just don't want a hug.
Give them gifts? Actually, yes. Mainly because I don't do it very often, I want to make sure they know I appreciate them even if I'm not a frequent visitor.
What is your favorite tree to work with? Yes. I love trees, all trees. There are some here in Texas that are my very favorites. They grow along the highways down here, but I can never figure out what they are.

W H E E L . O F . T H E . Y E A R
What is your favorite holiday? Actually, I love Yule, but not for the reasons you might think. I love the Longest Night.
What is your least favorite holiday? I don't have a least favorite. Maybe some that I don't make as much of an effort to celebrate, but that's it.
Have you ever held a ritual on a holiday? Yes. You can usually find me doing something in the kitchen from Lammas to Yule.
Ever taken a day off work to celebrate a Pagan holiday? No. But I don't take days off of work to celebrate Christian ones, either. I try not to take days off at all, really...
Do you celebrate Yule on the 21 rather than the 25? Why would I celebrate the Solstice on any other day than the one it falls on?
Have you ever felt the veil thin? Actually, I try really hard to be doing something else when that happens. I'm hesitant to fully experience that.
Ever danced the Maypole? No, but that would be neat!
Know what the Maypole symbolizes? Yes.
How do you usually celebrate the Pagan holidays? With food. And meditation/reflection which is usually wrapped up in some sort of divination.

Do you use Tarot? I've been reading cards since I was 16. I probably always will. I can see that being a lifetime thing.
Do you use runes? Not as much as I'd like to.
Do you use a pendulum? I have in the past.
Do you use dowsing rods? No.
Do you use astrology? Yes, and I probably know as much about astrology as I do about Tarot - if not more.
Any other form of divination? Not really.

What was the first spell you did? You know, I don't know.
What was the latest? I try not to cast spells, actually. I can't see a good enough reason to go to all that trouble.
Ever done a love spell? LOL! Nope. Not my thing. A sex spell, on the other hand, I'd probably be much better at. ;)
A job spell? No.
A healing spell? Not even these - I look at spells the same way I see rituals - it's a lot of work and bother and to be honest? Not only are my Deities kind of busy right now - I'm not sure I want to ask Them for help if I don't really need to. If/when magic and blessings come into my life, it's because I am being blessed - not because I'm looking for help or a handout. I feel like that's cheating for me.
What was the most powerful spell you've ever performed? That would be a protection spell for my mother. You see what I mean when I say some things are worth it more than others?
What deities do you usually call on? And again I say, They're busy, I'm not going to bother Them with trivial things if I don't have to. If I *DO* have to, though, I'm asking for the help of the God/dess most beneficial to whatever I'm working.

Do you believe in Vampires? There is a reason you don't find me wandering about graveyards at night. *nodnodnod*
Werewolves? Yes.
Shapeshifters? Yes.
Elves? Yes.
Faeries? Yes.
Dragons? Yes.
Nymphs? Yes.
Sprites? Yes.
Mermaids? Yes.
Sirens? Yes.
Satyrs? Yes.
Ever "seen" any of the above? No, but just because I haven't seen them doesn't mean they aren't there. This is why you should always be respectful in your daily life. You never know who or what you'll encounter and I'm pretty sure that being on their bad side is a bad idea.Just saying.
Ever talked to any of the above? No.
Ever worked with any of the above in magic? I am so not ready for that kind of power...
Do you have one of them as a personal guardian? No. You know why? Because my personal philosophy is "keep your head down and keep moving" - I plan on not being noticeable enough to NEED one as a personal guardian!

Do you see a rabbit, a man or a woman in the moon? It's my Lady. It's always been Her.
Own a cat? Two troublemakers currently. We're having issues but I wouldn't trade them for the world.
When you meditate, what does your happy place look like? I've gone to two places over the years. One is a gated garden with a waterfall and water pooling at the bottom. One of my spirit animals likes to sun itself on the rocks there. The other is the bank of a river, under a tree. It's usually a solid measure of my mental state - whether the bank is barren or lush, or the tree is bare or heavy with leaves. But the water is cool and always flowing, and I can ask for nothing more.
Do you work with Chakras? Yes, but mainly work-related and not juju-related.
Do you believe in past lives? Yes.
If so, describe a few briefly: I don't know which one, but I died in a war. I was also strangled at some point.
Do you believe in soul mates? I believe in the concept of anam cara, or soul friends. I think you are reincarnated and find different people that you travel on your journey with, over and over again.
Do you have a spirit guide? Yes. Not something I talk about much, but I am never alone.
Is it always love and light? No. But it's not always challenge and hardship, either. The path I walk is not for everyone, but it's mine, and I will travel as far as it takes me.

Also, I'm still alive. Sorry about the radio silence, my head is not always the best place to be sometimes.

Your answers are fascinating to me. I love learning new things about your beliefs, so I'm glad you posted this. While I'm a Christian, I see a lot of the Divine in nature -- I personally believe it reflects my Christian God's attention to detail and creativity and love of beauty -- but I find it interesting that you and I can have dissimilar beliefs, but similar reactions to things. I talk to my trees all the time, and this summer I've been nurturing my two grapevines with a lot of talking to them and love and attention. I've even been known to kiss a few of their tiny, velvety leaves. They seem to like it, as they've both grown about six feet this year. :)

Is the concept of anam cara bound to reincarnation? I am not sure I personally believe in reincarnation, but I love the idea of finding people who travel on your journey with you through this life, at least. I've seen the phrase before, but mostly on jewelry and such, which is why I ask.

Anyway, thanks for sharing all of this. I love learning about how you see the world, both natural and supernatural. <3
